To ensure Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) have the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has mandated that employers provide their MDWs with at least one rest day per month, effective from 1 January 2023. This regulation applies to both new and existing MDWs in Singapore.
Employers and MDWs are encouraged to reach a mutual understanding regarding the arrangements for the mandatory rest day. MOM has prepared a guide to facilitate discussions between employers and MDWs on how the mandatory rest day will be observed. Employers are also required to update their MDWs’ rest day information through the MDW eServices portal.
